Urban Growth Projections For The Charleston Area

If you think traffic is a problem now, you better start saving up for that helicopter you were longing for. After all, most areas experience urban growth sooner or later, image of a map visualizing urban growth around the Charleston, SC area in 1973 but how state and local governments plan for, and later handle that growth, directly impacts whether that self-fulfilled prophecy “build and they will come” actually ever takes place or not.

“I think the reasonable human expectation should be that people will use it like crazy.” - Mayor Riley

Charleston’s Mayor Riley is now talking about using rail cars to alleviate some of the dreaded highway traffic we see around here every workday. Charleston paying up for the benefit of Mt. Pleasant? Now that’s a sign of the times…

And it’s a good thing too, because when Mt. Pleasant finishes last for walkers in SC, you know it’s time for the local government to get things fixed. I mean, have you ever tried to cross Johnnie Dodds on foot? Good luck!

Well, it is not impossible to see a lot of progress in Charleston in the near future. I lived in the area almost my entire life and I’m loving every moment of it. So that’s why we came with this idea to put up a webcam to show to others Charleston in its current view. Check this webcam at http://www.charlestonscrealestate.us and see historical landmarks and beautiful sights.

Yea, this is definitely God’s Country, but thanks to winding up on a “Best Place To Live” list of some sort, the crowds have been coming here ever since.

Obviously, it’s only gonna grow more, which is illustrated by the steady march up Hwy 17 of Mt. Pleasant proper. Who’d a thought Seewee Restaurant woulda been a stone’s throw away from a major shopping center 20 years ago? Certainly not I, and now friends in Awendaw are finally gonna get piped water? WOW, times have changed. Who knows, maybe Awendaw Creek will become the next tourist spot, especially with Romain Retreat and other neighborhoods popping up all over the place…

btw: nice site. I’d actually been to that Folly Beach site before for its webcams, and I’m sure your new one will be a hit too. G/L.

Yeah, so much developments can happen in such a short time. If what you right on your guess on Awendaw Creek, I just hope that it’s beauty will still preserve and not affected by the progress. And thank you for your appreciation of our webcam! We are really glad that you liked it. Thank you again!

What do you think about that?
