4th of July Blast at Patriots Point 2009
July 4th isn’t just my favorite holiday because my birthday is the next morning, but also because I always love a good fireworks show – and who better to give one than Patriot’s Point every year!
The party will be a blast as usual, but what’s even cooler is that you can see fireworks from all around Charleston when you are at Patriot’s Point – as a matter of fact, the only better view IMO is if you’re on a boat in the harbor; now that’s a site to see!
If you haven’t been to the Patriots Point 4th of July Blast yet, don’t just take my word for it; back in ‘07, the NYT said:

- gospel songs and praise dance,
- basket-making demonstrations,

And of course, there is also going to be good food: a variety of authentic Gullah cuisine, classic barbeque, fish, chicken and beverages offered for sale by more than 15 Lowcountry restaurants and food vendors.
Among other family friendly activities, there will be a water-slide for the kids.
If you’d like to read up on this fascinating culture, there will be publications on Lowcountry Gullah Geechee history, fiction, and cookbooks available for sale, and other various merchandise as well:

Sailing, canoeing, kayaking, and swimming in grits – what could be finer?
