South Carolinians who like to fish can go online for newly updated information to find out if the fish on their line is safe to eat or should be released because of possible contamination, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control reported today.
“DHEC’s Web site at www.scdhec.gov/fish has a state map with the latest advisories, information, a booklet and other materials that can be downloaded,” said David Wilson, chief of DHEC’s Bureau of Water. “This information will help our citizens determine whether to keep and eat the fish they catch in South Carolina waters or release them back into the water.”

Recycling waste oil means more jobs, cleaner environment
Any company that can get a firm grip on recycling something – especially when it comes to used oil products – has my full admiration and support going forward.
SouthEastern Petroleum Systems will be opening a new manufacturing facility over in Chester County. Their $30 million investment is expected to bring 24 new jobs to SC, which is great news for that area,
but it also suggests that someone has finally figured out a business plan for recycling used oil – I mean, $30 million is no pocket change, I don’t care who you are!

Fight Beach Debris – Adopt A Beach
Debris piling up on our beaches isn’t a problem now like it is during warmer months, but as the crowds come, so does the trash they often leave behind.
If you are concerned about trash piling up on your local beach, consider joining DHEC’s ‘Adopt A Beach‘ program.
Here are some groups that have already joined in to help out:
