If comments from some of the 3,000+ fans of Shem Creek on Facebook are any indication, people are not happy with the way Mt. Pleasant is proposing to develop the scenic area.

Fans immediately came out fighting, with some harsh words on how they really feel about plans to turn Shem Creek’s marsh land into a litter haven for tourist-mongers.

Whether you’re a fan of the Shem Creek modifications or not, for those that live here, take a look at the bottom line of that proposed master plan; I know a few carpenters that would love that contract!

IMO, if the dock must go on, why not delete the long boardwalk from the parking lot, and make people walk behind Vickerys if they want to go out there? If they don’t wanna walk that far on existing ground, why would they be anymore apt to walk on a boardwalk that would cost us a proposed $324,000?

Because in the end, no matter how good intentions are now, this could easily snowball into an environmental nightmare down the road.

Your comments are welcome – no registration required, because it’s gonna take the public making a stand for Shem Creek’s future to be resolved in a manner everyone can feel less resilient towards. Thank you.
