Explore SC from A-Z with ETV
What legendary tales does the H.L. Hunley submarine hide from its action-packed battle days? What does the Gullah language sound like when spoken in the state? How does one enjoy an opera performance without straying far from home? And should we fear UFOs landing here? How well do you really know South Carolina?
On Sunday, March 8 at 9:30 p.m., ETV illuminates the alphabet by taking audiences on a tour of the state in “Carolina Stories: South Carolina A to Z”. The program spotlights different attractions and delves into the unique history and culture that shapes and defines South Carolina. The segments unlock many unknown secrets and test the knowledge of even those born and raised in the Palmetto State.
ETV goes behind the scenes to learn the secrets of Southern delicacies like Frogmore stew and four types of barbeque, elevates heart rates with the rippling speeds of NASCAR and jockeys in the Carolina Cup, and unravels stories of the state’s rich history. Highlights include the designing of the state flag, the origins of the gorgeous Oconee Bell flowers, and the significance of rice in the colonial era as well as the textile mills in the following centuries.

I went up to Greenville for a big Irish Festival that week before St. Patty’s Day, so I didn’t get a chance to watch it myself.
I know down here everybody loves Melvin’s which is related to Bessingers which has a restaurant over in Irmo just outside of Columbia.
I hope you find a lip smackin joint though Brian, ’cause good ribs are hard to come by!
Hi,
I’m pretty sure that this is the show I was watching where they were talking about 100-mile barbeque. There were four restaurants mentioned. I am a fairly new transplant to South Carolina and would like to try these restaurants, especially the one near Columbia, where I now live. Can you tell me the name of that restaurant? I think it was in Leesburg or a name similar to that.
Thank you,
Brian
I missed each time the program was aired. Will it be aired again?
Hi Jackie. I just checked the schedule again, but don’t currently see it listed anymore.
I went ahead and added some contact info that you and others may find useful. G/L.
