America’s Top 100 Golf Communities 2009
Thirteen S.C. golf communities have made the cut for Travel + Leisure Golf magazine’s latest Top 100 list, including two new courses.
Concern about residential value was increased this year, so it played a bigger role in the selection process. The six categories looked at were:
- Golf amenity
- Residential architecture and style
- Location, including natural setting and proximity to cultural activities
- Management, service and programming options
- Non-golf amenities, such as a full-service spa, equestrian center or marina
- Environmental stewardship
The list ranks the Top 25 communities in sequential order, but not the remaining 75. The two new additions to the annual list are Dataw Island Club and the Golf Club at Briar’s Creek. In order to qualify for Travel + Leisure’s list, golf communities must offer property owners an opportunity for membership in an affiliated private golf club.
